This novel set in Paris before the outbreak of the Second World War, focuses on the personal experiences of a young English girl and the close circle of friends who become her comrades in wartime. As the war becomes real, friendships become more important and are tested in bleak post-war Berlin. Leslie Denny also wrote "The Listening Sky" and "Water from the Moon".
