"This beautiful book is a collection of Soizick Meister's wonderful paintings that feature the character Mr. M, a solitary and mysterious man in a raincoat who carries a suitcase and umbrella as he journeys through gorgeous, lush Pacific Northwest landscapes capped by moody overcast skies. The charmingly melancholic paintings have themes of loneliness, time, memory, sorrow, and emotional transformation. Each is sparsely, almost impressionistically narrated by Kallie George, who uses pleasingly arcane words like "magnolious" and "erumpent". Little is revealed about Mr. M or his life, which leaves much to the reader's imagination. While this isn't quite a children's book, it is exactly the kind of thing I would have loved as a child: mysterious, dreamlike, moody; I expect many children with rich inner lives will also love it. Highly recommended for dreamers of all ages."
