Inspired by Charlotte Bronte's 'Jane Eyre', ‘Wide Sargasso Sea’ is set in 1830's Jamaica. Born into an oppressive, colonialist society, white Creole heiress Antoinette Cosway meets a young Englishman who is drawn to her innocent beauty and sensuality.
