"Portugal's Contribution to Global Geography" is a paper was presented by Elaine Sanceau at the Eighth Annual Symposium of the Department of Geography, De Paul University, Chicago, Illinois, USA, March 29, 1969. The program was entitled “The Iberian Peninsula”. Sanceau's participation was through a grant from the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisbon, Portugal.
Elaine Sanceau is an authority on Portuguese history. She was decorated twice by the Portuguese government. In 1968 she was granted the Gold Medal of the Portuguese city of Porto. Most of her nine books have been published in both Portuguese and English. Miss Sanceau has been a resident of Portugal since 1930.
